The most recent McLaren Ultimate Series model, which bears the Senna brand, offers the greatest connection between man and machine in the automotive world. And the most extreme road car ever built by McLaren (the “Senna”) has been miniaturized, with plastic bricks in place of its carbon fiber body: it’s the newest edition of LEGO Speed Champions.

Just like the original car, the new model was inspired by the three-time F1 champion, Ayrton Senna, who won all of his three world titles driving McLaren models. The car that bears his brand, officially launched at last year’s Geneva Motor Show, is the lightest and most track-ready road car ever built by McLaren. Boasting 800 HP and a V8 turbo engine, the Senna has a top-speed of 340 kmh and goes from zero to 200 kmh in just 6.8 seconds.

By allowing young supercar enthusiasts to exercise their creativity with the new McLaren Senna,  McLaren automotive and the iconic Danish toymaker, LEGO, are taking another step in a fruitful partnership.

Just like the real car, the collectible promises a lot of fun – in this case, for fans older than seven. Each McLaren Senna takes around 300 hours of meticulous labor to build at the McLaren Automotive production center, in Woking, in the UK. The LEGO Speed Champions version will also be built by hand – but it’s a little faster to put together its 219 pieces in order to build a 15 cm long model.

The kit also includes an amazing object for motorsport lovers: its own wind tunnel. For a car capable of generating 800 kg of downforce at 250 kmh, the wind tunnel allows young fans to learn about the amazing aerodynamic properties of the Senna.

The model has the same front diffuser, the air vent on the roof and the huge rear wing that make the original road car stand out. Finished in blueish grey with contrasting orange accents, the model includes a set of interchangeable wheel rims, a removable windshield and a minifig of a driver wearing a McLaren racing suit and sponsored by Pirelli, highlighting the amazing attention to detail that LEGO brings to its Speed Champions series.

The new McLaren Senna LEGO Speed Champions hits Brazilian stores in February.
